Quick verdict
Teen Patti by Octro earns 3.9 / 5 after a full deposit-play-withdraw cycle in May 2026. This is the original Octro Teen Patti — first published in 2010, still actively maintained by Octro Inc. in Noida, and a separate app from Teen Patti Gold, the newer flagship from the same publisher. Our UPI withdrawal took 48 hours — slower than every recent competitor we’ve benchmarked — and the UI shows its age. But the operator is legitimate, tables stay populated 24/7, and this is no maintenance-mode leftover: the calmer notifications and quieter chat are deliberately tuned for the app’s older legacy cohort.
The recommendation is simple. If you played the original before 2015 and want your legacy account, chips, and friend list, this is your app. If you’re new, install Teen Patti Gold or Teen Patti Master (the category leader) instead.
What is Teen Patti by Octro?
Octro Inc. is a Noida mobile-gaming studio, incorporated in 2006 and backed by Sequoia Capital India. Its Teen Patti first shipped on Google Play in September 2010 as a free-to-play social game — before real-money Teen Patti was a category. It moved to cash-prize play around 2014, then went APK-only when Google tightened its Play Store policy against gambling apps. The code has been maintained continuously since, but the UI patterns and asset library still trace to that 2010-2014 era.
Today the app runs five variants — Classic, Muflis, AK47, Joker, and Royal — across four stake levels, from ₹2/₹4 blinds up to ₹500/₹1,000 at the VIP tier. Full KYC (Aadhaar + PAN + selfie) is required before the first cash withdrawal, and it ships as a 95 MB direct APK from the Octro Teen Patti landing page — not teenpattigold.in, which is Gold’s home. The two are different apps from one publisher, with separate accounts and separate chip economies; the FAQ below covers which one to pick.
How to download Teen Patti by Octro
- Open the official Octro Teen Patti site in your mobile browser. Type the URL manually — it’s the one linked from Octro’s corporate page at octro.com — never a Telegram or YouTube link.
- Tap Download APK and confirm the file size matches the advertised 95 MB.
- When Android warns about unknown sources, tap Settings → allow Install from this source. Octro is off Play Store because of Google’s gambling policy, not because the APK is unsafe.
- Tap the APK → Install. First launch takes 12-15 seconds while the legacy asset bundle unpacks — slow by modern standards, normal for this codebase.
- Sign up with your mobile number — but if you played between 2010 and 2018, try “Already have an account?” with your old number first. Legacy accounts often still exist.
⚠️ Do not install Teen Patti by Octro from third-party APK aggregators. Repackaged Octro APKs are the single most common credential-theft vector in the Indian Teen Patti scene — the brand is well-known enough that attackers target it disproportionately. See the Teen Patti hack truth guide for documented cases.
Real withdrawal test
I deposited ₹500 via UPI on 13 May 2026 at 11:55 IST — the deep-link opened PhonePe with Octro’s VPA pre-filled, and chips credited in 9.1 seconds (Teen Patti Gold’s median: 8.3s; Teen Patti Master’s: 7s). Over the next 2 hours 30 minutes I played 50 hands — 28 Classic and 14 Muflis at ₹4/₹8, plus 8 Joker at ₹10/₹20 — and closed at ₹644, a net gain of ₹144 that came mostly from one Joker hand where the wild card gave me a trail of Aces.
The withdrawal log:
- KYC submitted: 13 May, 14:30 IST (Aadhaar front and back, PAN, selfie holding PAN)
- KYC approved: 13 May, 21:38 IST — 7 hours 8 minutes, within Octro’s published 4-24 hour window
- Withdrawal request: 13 May, 21:50 IST (₹644 → PhonePe UPI)
- Bank credit: 15 May, 21:42 IST — 47 hours 52 minutes
Call it 48 hours. That beats Teen Patti Gold’s 52-hour first cycle (same publisher, same payment-team queue) but trails everything else in our benchmark set: Teen Patti Master (19h), Teen Patti Go (22h), 3 Patti Blue (11h), Teen Patti Star (17h), Teen Patti Real (21h). A follow-up withdrawal on 19 May (₹350) cleared in 28h 41m — faster, but still well behind the 11-12 hour band Master, Go, Real, and Blue hit on repeat withdrawals. Both apps share Octro’s payment ops infrastructure, so the pattern mirrors Gold exactly.
Deposits are the standard drill: Cashier → Add Cash, preset chip packs of ₹100 / ₹500 / ₹1,000 / ₹2,500 / ₹5,000 or a custom amount, UPI only (PhonePe, Paytm, and Google Pay all work), 9.1-second median credit across five runs. The flow takes one extra tap than Gold — an interstitial “Confirm chip pack” screen newer apps skip — and the bonus tiles on chip packs are tournament chips that expire 7 days after credit, so don’t deposit big just to chase them.
Five things I noticed during testing
- The UI feels like 2018. Hamburger menu top-left, tab bar at the bottom, modal sheets instead of swipe transitions. Nothing is broken, but players coming from Master or Go will feel the lag in polish.
- Usernames date the player base. “Vinod1984”, “RajeshDelhi09”, “AhmedabadKing” — handles from an era when those names weren’t yet taken. Chat is calmer than on newer apps; the demographic skews older.
- There’s no referral leaderboard. Unlike Gold, Master, Go, and Star, the original has no invite-friends gamification; the referral program exists but sits buried under Account → Refer.
- Tournament chips can move to Gold. On request, Octro support will transfer tournament-chip wins from the original to Gold — undocumented, but it worked in my test. Cash chips do not transfer.
- Push notifications are calmer than Gold’s. I counted 9 in 24 hours at default settings versus 17 on Gold; Octro tunes the original’s re-engagement loop down because its older base is less responsive to “Aman is online — play him” prompts.
Is Teen Patti by Octro legal in India?
Under the PROGA Act 2025, skill-based real-money Teen Patti remains legal for players 18 and over in most Indian states — the Supreme Court classified it a game of skill in 1968 and reaffirmed that in 2017. State-level bans apply in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Odisha, Sikkim, and Nagaland. Octro meets all three PROGA operator obligations — mandatory KYC before the first cash withdrawal, visible responsible-play disclosures, and player-set daily and weekly deposit limits (under Account → Limits). The original and Gold share Octro’s compliance team, so both apps update simultaneously when regulation tightens. Legal background in our PROGA Act 2025 explainer.

Bottom line
Install Teen Patti by Octro only if you played the original before 2015 and want your legacy account, friend list, and tournament-chip history — for that cohort it’s the only option, and a safe one. Everyone else gets a better deal from Teen Patti Gold (same publisher, wider catalogue, modern UI), Teen Patti Master (4.4, 19h — the all-round leader), or 3 Patti Blue (11h — the fastest payout we’ve measured).
